If You Dream It...It Will Come

I want to thank everyone who left comments and emailed me about my last post, Dreaming. It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one who feels a little lost and unsure and the advice was beyond inspirational. I'm so glad I opened myself up to all of you. I completely agree with Maison21 who said that by doing so was the beginning of opening myself up to change. And it's funny how the moment you do that, so much becomes possible.

I actually had an interview tonight with the most amazing design and architecture firm. I'm not saying who they are because I don't want to jinx it but if you could say a prayer, light a candle, cross your fingers, rub the Buddha, whatever you want to do, I would so appreciate it! I want to work for them so badly, I could cry. I actually almost did on the subway ride home. It would be long hours and a ton of work but you just know when you are ready for the challenge. They are supposed to make a decision by Friday, so if they pick me, I'll tell you who they are and jump for joy! If not, let's pretend I never mentioned this ;-)

***UPDATE***
Thanks to everyone who was so supportive and wrote such nice comments again! I've already heard through the grapevine that they might offer the position to someone else but I'm not letting it get me down. If I don't get it, that just means it wasn't meant to be and maybe something else will be a better fit for me. And I'm going to keep going and continue to look for it!

Yay, how exciting! Officially crossing all fingers and toes for you! Sounds like this could be the change you need, until you are ready to tackle something on your own.

Good Luck HC! Hey and when you get that new job, and I think you will, will you let us know who the technically challenged designer is who you work for now? Dying to know!
Now I'm off to hunt down this kitchen photo!
And do not fear! You will be a huge success at whatever comes your way.
:)

Hi, I enjoy your blog & the honesty of your musings is very refreshing. The practice you are applying to (hinted by picture) is fantastic so best of luck to you. I work in a connected industry with many projects in NYC so if I may be so bold as to offer you a bit of advice, I would just like to say it's a very small professional circle we move in, especially in Manhattan, so be careful what you imply/hint about your former employer(s) and/or professional contacts. Cheers & good luck!

Good luck. Fingers are crossed for you. (Now was the firm the one that did the kitchen that you had posted earlier? Cause i recognize that shot -- soapstone sink, marble counters - and a ginormous marble island salvaged from an old print shop...)

They do great work and would be lucky to have you. all the best,

Someone who loves your taste

THANKS EVERYONE! I left an update on the post. I'm not sure I will get an offer but that just means it wasn't meant to be.

The design firm really is very interesting and so creative. I'm going to wait until after Friday to say who they are but I definitely want do a proper profile. I think we're going to be hearing a lot more from them in the future!

awesome attitude, chic! you couldn't be more right- if you don't get an offer, it's the way it's meant to be. just means that you'll get something better in the future! it's great that you are looking for something new- so many people keep working forever in jobs they hate because of sheer inertia.

thanks for the mention, btw- it's the first maison21 google alert i didn't generate myself! (didn't know about google alerts when you did your profile on me).

change is in the air- i predict 2008 is going to be very exciting for you!

wishing you all the best from the west (coast)!
