David Jimenez Does It Again!

Kansas City non-professional interior designing wizard, David Jimenez, has been at it again. This time it's at his vacation home in Palm Springs where he has gone wild with color and pattern. He also has an amazing new website where you can check out more photos of his interiors and event designs. It's a good thing he's still working at Hallmark and hasn't decided to go professional because if he had, he'd surely give a lot of interior designers a run for their money! Enjoy!

Sorry Im posting again But After checking out his website and reading even more about David I wanted to say Thank You! At 22 I do these same things, and hope that one day I have as great an eye as he does.

That yellow chair looks rather Wearstler-esque! Will check out his website now!

That is so amazing to read he is not a pro. I instantly went to check out his also very stylish site I found he is very much connected by profession to design in many other forms. He truly is a great talent in whatever he does.
Also he lives in a wonderfull grand old house. Great post!

Chic - I just met him over the holidays and his personality is as charming and engaging as his homes. Thanks for the heads-up on the site!

Wes, you are very welcome! So glad you like David's designs as much as I do. He's very talented!

Suzy, there is definitely more Wearstler influence in this home but she of course was influenced by David Hicks so it all goes back to the 60's. I love Palm Springs style. It's so fun and sunny like the weather!

M&Co., He's not even a professional designer! Can you believe it?!

Ron, While not a professional interior designer, David is definitely involved in the design world and has an amazing eye!

Mrs. Blandings, David has been nothing but charming to deal with via email so I can imagine he's even more fabulous in person! I hope I get to meet him too someday!

Thank you for sharing! I so admire his style and am inspired by how his career developed. (I was in visual merchandising also) The website is fabulous and timely I had just revisited the online House Beautiful story this week for another look at that dressing room table.

And did anyone mention how HANDSOME he is?

London Calling, now you can look at his work all in one place! The dressing table and closet is one of my favorite designs in his home too!

Habitually Chic said...

Alice, the colors are great! Exactly what you would want in Palm Springs!

Habitually Chic said...

Miss Dashwood, Do you happen to be David's mother?! Lol!

Mrs. C. Phillips, Thanks! I look forward to seeing your blog develop in the future as well!

I completely dislike this style, it looks like the worst of the 60s/70s to me. He looks like a nice guy, though, nothing personal.

so_chic_darling said...

I'm sorry to pour cold water on this but it looks like Florida in the 70s plus isn't the whole Hollywood Regency style just soooooo ebay now?

i have to agree with the last two posters. show me something i haven't seen!

Jacqui O said...

Congratulations HC, another great post. I went back over your previous posts on DJ and checked out his website and the businesses he is instrumental in. Love being introduced to so many different things by your writing.

Yes a total ebay job!

Jacqui O, thanks! David has had a really interesting progression in his career and I love profiling him so that he may inspire others.

To the negative commentators, David isn't reinventing the wheel with his Palm Springs home but that wasn't the point. To each is own. He has created the perfect Palm Springs aesthetic in Palm Springs not Des Moines where it might be out of place. I think it goes perfectly with the environment and it is his personal home and he has to live there not you. I chose to profile him because I think he has a great eye and a great design style and I like him as a person.

as if I needed more encouragement with my current obsession with bright yellow, lol! i love these images, perfect as i do up a beach house. many thanks!

Not to pile it on, but I thought yellow and black was atrocious when Kelly Wearstler did it, and I think Jimenez's version is just as horrible. Considering that Wearstler's look is already a rip-off of someone else's, Jimenez's place look about 6 degrees removed from originality.

I did however enjoy looking at his website. (His Kansas City place reminded me of Thomas O'Brien.) He may very well be a lovely person and clearly he's quite talented at creating mass market retail appeal. But fresh and original, he's not.

Hi HC LOVE your blog. any idea what the make is of those two large yellow table lamps in the bedroom picture are?
I want.

I love his style! I think his work is absolutely fabulous!

It is not that easy to make a living space by that clean and white lines he does, so the one almost feels like being in the hospital. I guess only the living room (Palm Springs interior) with the blue sofa in the center and olive wall behind somehow escaped that perception.

Thanks again for this post! I mentioned it in my post today. Thanks for your great blog!
