I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!
Those chartreuse "x" pillows are cute. Looking forward to it.
No no. Bad. Bad. Yet another magazine capitulating to the whole 'we must have a celebrity on the cover' thing to sell copies. OK, so they already had Amanda Peet, but jeez, when will it end? More icons like India Hicks please, and fewer actresses. Drew already snagged the March Vogue cover. So predictable. Still love your blog, tho. And still addicted to Domino. But so over actress-veneration.CheersMitsouko
BA, I like the pillows too. Good motivation to make me swap out my winter pillows for my spring ones.
Anonymous, I feel your pain. I hate that every fashion magazine has a celebrity on the cover promoting their latest movie but Domino only does it occassionally so I let them get away with it. I wish they would feature more real designers though. It was sad that they chose a model for the cover instead of Nick Olsen.
how about *gasp* just furniture on the cover?novel idea, no? a decorating magazine, about- DECORATING!not that i don't like a 'lil picture in home layout featuring the homeowners. always fun to put a face on the fab...
Maison21, I was just thinking that most of the other shelter magazines don't feature models on their covers but I don't mind them. Why shouldn't talented designers get their day in the sun?!
You guys are going to have to learn to overlook covers and concentrate on the inside contents. Covers are strictly a way to maximize newsstand sales. Crassly conceived covers (with fawning celebrity photos, promises of never-before-revealed sex secrets, etc. etc.) are as necessary to magazine success as advertising is. If you need to, just tear off the cover as soon as the magazine arrives, so you can concentrate on the interior pages. In this case, just be grateful it wasn't Hilary Duff or some other no-talent grotesquerie.
Anonymous, I see your point. We all know the celebs are on the covers to get us to buy the magazines but I also like them to look pretty on my coffee table. But I do focus on the inside. I love Domino and they can really do no wrong in my book...unless they were to put Hilary Duff on the cover ;-)
You're right, Anon. It could have been Hilary Duff (who is, in fact, on the cover of Domino precursor Lucky this month). And I do like your phrase 'no talent grotesquerie'- very apt. And you are absolutely right about the competitive nature of magazine publishing in general and newsstand in particular, (even more brutal here in Canada that in the US).But I agree with HabChic - I want magazines to look nice on the coffee table (yay, New Yorker) and yet another celebrity face is so intrusive. That said, I will buy said issue of Domino the second it comes out next Thursday (magazine day here in Toronto).Mitsouko
Ruthie Sommers did Drew's house. I'm curious to see it.
Oh wow - so exciting seeing a sneak peak of the next issue!!XAnna
Ruthie Sommers DID do Drew's house and it is nothing short of spectacular! I was fortunate to be invited to a party there, and wondered why it hasn't been published yet...
I love this room so much.T8StrangeClosets.com
