Working Girl

Just a little update to let you know I'm starting a new position with another top New York City interior designer on Monday. I will do my best to keep up with my posting during my first week but just in case I can't, I hope you'll excuse me. I'm want to wait until I get settled before I announce who I'm working for but I am excited that they know about my blog so down the road, I will be able to write about the projects I'm working on and what really goes on behind the scenes at a design firm!

Creativity comes from trust. Trust your instincts. And never hope more than you work. - Rita Mae Brown

Can you tell us who it is? I worked for a top interior designer as well...and well, I'm really curious if it is the same designer. Because if it is....I have some things to share!!!!

Erin, I plan to get settled first before I announce who it is but they do know about my blog so I am excited to write about what we're working on at some point down the road.

ELG, I might just be posting less for the first week. I'm sure my new job will give me plenty of ideas to write about soon!

Good luck! I'm so very jealous of you - since my career is full of stress and agony and has absolutely no redeeming qualities, I'm always envious of those who are working in a field they enjoy.

Congratulations!!! I'm sure you will love it! Can't wait to hear more about the job and projects.

Post more "sneak peaks" of your apt. soon, since you spruced it up for photos. (I'm guessing for your portofolio? - I've done the same thing!)

HURRAH! I wish I worked for a decorator, or was a decorator. If I could only find that first client! Oh, well.

Congratulations HC, looks like you're already accomplishing one of your goals this year! Good for you!

Thanks everyone! I survived my first day! It was actually an easy transition since I already know what I'm doing for the most part. They are much more organized and professional than my last firm which was one of the reasons I liked them. I might also be heading out to the Hamptons this week to check on a project. Woo hoo!

And to Cultivated Chic and Kate, it's never too late to change careers! Julia Child didn't learn to cook until she was 37 years old! So carpe diem! Keep your boring day job to pay the bills while you persue your passion at night. Just do it!

Glad to hear the first day went well! (Inspiring fact about Julia Child, by the way)

What really goes on behind the scenes? Hmmm... would that include double-billing clients, vendor kick-backs,rigged contractor bidding? If so, I can't wait!!
