Grammercy Park Perfection

I posted a few photos from this Gramercy Park apartment designed by Robert Passal last week but it's such a great space that I thought it was worth posting the rest. I also admire the designer's style and philosophy. “Design is in my blood,” says Passel. “I habitually find myself contemplating ideas for current and future projects. I continually challenge myself and my staff to examine definitive segments of art and design, both modern and traditional, to bring an air of distinction to my work.”

I've always love Gramercy park. My mother lived there until she was 5, her father owning an apartment building on the northeast corner. They had a key to the park and my mother played there every day with my grandmother. Unfortunately her dad died young and the building was then sold. Would love to still have it in the family...imagine - I could have an apartment like the one in your post!!!

Marie Louise, what a bittersweet story. To live in a building on Gramercy Park must have been a wonderful treat. If you still had the building today, it would be worth a ton of money too!

Gotta love those animal prints, especially the dining room chairs. Makes me drool.

I'm a big fan of your blog - I added yours to mine. Ciao!

Beautiful. I also love the corner which shows the nudes. Beautiful shading and textures.

A lovely home - wonder what is up with the cabinetry in the dining room? Dying to know what goes in there.

Good question, mrs blandings. It's like I always say, "When design takes priority, the result is often strange closets."

so glad you posted the rest of these photos! i find this type of design so genius because it seems on the edge of being over-the-top, but never quite gets there. such an eclectic luxe mix of styles, fabrics, patterns, and color! while i don't think i could live there i would certainly love to visit and admire :)

I can only picture scurrying about madly in New York City shopping for a dinner party for friends, returning to that abode, and preparing a chic evening, of wonderful foods, lively banter and good music.
Well, just dreaming, because, that looks so quintessential NY.

I love the fabric (animal skin looking) on the dining chairs - I have been searching on my own for 2 yards. Do you know the name and manufacturer of the fabric? Thank you.
