Ready for Take Off

I'm almost ready to leave for the airport and I wanted to thank everyone who sent all their great recommendations for Paris! I have no idea how many of them we will actually be able to see or do but I appreciate you all sending them to us!

Christian May of Maison21 has been gracious enough to blog sit for me while I am gone. I have prewritten a few posts that will publish while I am away. So if I have spelled anything wrong or if you smell smoke or notice burglars casing the place, contact Christian! I thought about asking people to guest post but my blog is my baby and I just couldn't do it. It's bad enough that I had to hand over the keys to Christian. I have a feeling he's going to redecorate while I am gone! He's been dying to redesign my blog header for ages!

I had someone leave a not so nice comment last night that I was making too big a deal about my trip and that people go to Paris everyday. Well, I am excited and why wouldn't I be. It's Paris! I also didn't take a vacation last year so I am mostly excited to just be getting away. I look forward to recharging my batteries and being inspired at every turn! I also am excited that I get to share this trip with Stefan of Architect Design, Mercedes and Alberto of Etos, George and Jon of Flair, Monelle of Williams-Sonoma Home, and Gabriella of Sarlo. I will even be meeting up with an old colleague who moved to Paris. I also know that many of my readers for physical, financial or other reasons will never get to enjoy Paris in person and I will be enjoying this trip as much for them as I will for myself. There are a lot of people just as excited about this trip as I am and I can't wait to recap our adventures next week!

If you are bored while I am away, then I suggest heading over to Maison21 for decorating advice with a sense of humor, Scented Glossy Magazines for hilarious reality TV roundups, Studio Annetta for glamorous interiors and the Neo-traditionalist for a little bit of everything! I might also Twitter so you can check out what we are doing in Paris in real time. Oh, and while you're at it, can you keep your fingers crossed for me that I get to sit next to a cute single guy and not a screaming baby! Merci!

i'm constantly amazed by people who take the time to leave RUDE comments on posts. it's like, clearly they like your blog enough to even be reading it, and THAT'S the way they choose to participate? haters!

Have a great trip, can't wait to hear all about it!

Obviously the rude comment was left by one of the "people" that don't go to Paris...They're jealous! I choose to share in your excitement and cannot wait to read all about it!

Rude comment leavers suck.
Enjoy Paris. It is beautiful. You will LOVE it. One last piece of advice..do NOT eat the hot dogs in baguettes. They sell them near a lot of tourist areas. It seems novel, but they are awful. haha.

My goodness, this is exciting! Have a wonderful time, Heather!

I, for one, am looking forward to hearing all about your trip! Enjoy it, and come back to tell us all. It's your blog and you can write whatever your heart desires- even better when it's about a fab. trip to Paris!

It's your blog, so write about whatever you want as often you want! :)

Have fun - looking forward to reading about it.

PS. I liked seeing the outfits you planned!

How rude, why do people do that? Must be their own insecurities. You have a great time! I'm so excited to hear about everything you did when you get back! Safe travels!

If I were preparing to depart for Paris I'd be over the Moon! Have fun!

Yay for Paris trip! I haven't gone and will be enjoying what you bring back to show us! Don't give those haters any energy, who wouldn't love to hear about a fabulous trip! Have a great time and download your pictures frequently so you don't lose them or accidentally delete!

well, I for one, can't wait to hear all about your trip, and definitely think you have made an appropriate amount of fuss over it. some people might go to Paris all the time, but most of us do not.

wishing you safe travels and a fabulous time!!

Bon voyage Heather and thank you SO VERY MUCH for the plug! I was so excited when I read it I called my fiance at his office squealing! I'm a new blogger and am so honored and flattered you are sending people my way... Back to my point, enjoy every moment of your trip and know you will be missed in the meantime! Paris is such a magical city and you're such a chic, fun girl---I have no doubt the two of you will get along swimmingly. Can't wait to hear the stories when you return!!!

You are exactly right to be excited for your trip! I find people who don't get excited about international travel to be exceedingly dull (okay that's not true, but I just wanted to be snarky on your behalf, because I am one such reader who has never been to Paris and may never go, so I am very excited on your behalf)!

Thanks for the shout! I'm so excited for you--have a fabulous time (which will of course include finding lots of great shopping deals).

I'll miss you but can't wait to see what fun m21 is going to be cooking up over here.

(p.s. take a page from Sheree's book: let your haters be your motivators, girl!) :)

Have a wonderful time. Paris is my most favorite place in the world. And I so wish I looked like that when I travel!

Habitually Chic said...

hey all- m21 filling in for heather- she says thanks for all the well wishes!

and SGM, heather has scheduled brief posts for her absence- i'm just filling in as comment moderator, so i won't be wreaking havoc all over heather's blog- it's far too chic for me to do *that*. plus, she *really* cares about her readers, unlike moiself, who has vanished many a time from my blog without even a note- i mean i care and all but i guess i'm just a little more irresponsible. can't believe she left me with the keys here, actually- where's the liquor cabinet? woo hoo! par-tay at chic's!

but, just wanted to pop in & let everyone know chic has landed in paris and is breakfasting with stefan and gabrielle sarlo at brasserie lipp. i think might hate her! j/k- i'm so excited, i feel like i'm in paris with her! (and everybody else can too, if you follow her tweets)!

and suzy- she hid the gin! :-(

In the words of Julia Child, "Balls to them!" Them - being the person who left the snide comment. You deserve a wonderful trip to Paris and you deserve to be excited!! Plus, your readers love seeing Paris through your eyes with your own spin on things... maybe millions of people go to Paris each year, but you're not millions, you're YOU and that's what makes it so special about your trip! So do divulge every last details... inquiring minds want to know! And good luck with the single guy sitting on the flight next to you!

Viva La France!!!! I can't wait to hear every detail of your lovely trip.
Sounds like someone is envious and wishes they were going to Paris....too bad!
ENJOY!!!!!

Have a fabulous trip! I LOVE Paris and cannot wait to hear about your adventures.

Kudos for you for taking the time to think through your outfits and events for such a memorable trip!

As a complete fashonista, I unfortunately leave packing until hours before my flight and spend my
trip "mentally kicking" myself for having forgotten a certain wrap or handbag.

I will take a page from your book and be more organized when it comes to packing.

Safe travels while in Paris!

Oh, Good Grief! It's YOUR blog! Why can't you 'brag' about your trip to Paris!! Isn't that what a blog is for?? You go and have a good time, and can't wait to hear the details when you get back.

Annie Byrd Hamnett said...

So looking forward to hearing about your French adventures! I am headed to Paris in 2 weeks for a little getaway with my mother (and then on to Provence for a cooking school) and can't wait to hear about your recommendations! Sad to say my wardrobe isn't nearly as fabulous as yours (think J. Crew instead of Phillip Lim), but nonetheless I am so excited about the trip. Bon voyage!

Habitually Chic said...

hey kids- m21 here-

chic is having a fantastic time in paris- better get on over to twitter and check out her pics @habituallychic!

and tammy- she didn't do a very good job of hiding the vodka. now i have a pounding headache, and am going back to bed... ;-)

I just got back from PARIS and had a fabulous time!!! I would be posting all the stuff if I had the time to put it on my blog - wish I did have the time - it's all such fun. What the saying:::::: if nothing nice to say you shouldn't say it at all -
Rude people have no place in the blog world - it's all for fun and meeting people with your same interests.......I never cease to be amazed by others in all ways....

I was a good customer of "The Two Magots" while in Paris a few weeks ago. Good food and a fabulous place to people watch at the popular sidewalk cafe....afternoon cheese and bread plate along with a glass of wine-----divine.....

Heather, its wonderful to hear someone so excited to visit a city like Paris for the first time. Theres something refreshing and sentimental about it, which I think most people don't appreciate anymore. I couldn't care less if you bragged about Kansas or Timbuktu all day - being chic extends to a state of mind! We readers are only so lucky partake in the experience. Paris speaks for itself, but seeing it through your eyes will make rare and special. Bon voyage!

My Mother taught me "If you do not have something nice to say, say nothing at all!" With that in mind...this is one of my favorite posts of all.... I love that your blog is like your baby and I too hope you have a comfy flight seated next to someone tres charming!
Enjoy Paris!

Of course you should be excited about your trip! The person who left the negative comment is so obviously jealous or forgot how to enjoy life and to live in the moment. Don't even let it get to you!

I hope you're having a Fabulous time & can't wait to hear all about it!

hey everybody-

maison21 here. once again, on the behalf of chic, thanks for all the lovely comments. i can assure you heather is having an AMAZING time in paris, and if you want to see for yourself, she's been doing some twitpic-ing:

if you don't tweet, i have a "where in the world is habitually chic?" post in the sidebar of my blog with a thumbnail of her last twitter photo.
