Wow. I was there a year before you went, my hotel was also around the corner, in fact my nearest metro stop was Palais Royal/Musee du Louvre. But your photos remind me that there were also so many other things I didn't notice, it was just so massively overwhelming. But I did love seeing well-dressed Parisians riding bicycles, and morning joggers passing through the museum's passageways, as well as others who walked their dogs without a leash!
I was awed by it. One of my French friends told me that a lot of Parisians were very upset when they added the pyramid entrance, because it doesn't match, complement, or harmonize with the surrounding palace at all. He's right--these pictures reminded me of it. Alone or from beneath, it's quite beautiful. But it just doesn't fit with the architecture.
It is pretty incredible isn't it? Sometimes when I look at photos I can't believe I was there. Your photo looking through the round window is fabulous.
Wonderful Pictures, especially the ones made at the sunset (I guess)!
Amazing how much the light can change a picture!!
Heather,
You took amazing pictures of the Louvre! I really enjoyed looking at them!

These photos are stunning, Heather. I'm so glad I'm planning a trip to Paris next autumn (thanks to your inspiration). The architecture takes my breath away!! Can you imagine trying to create a magnificent structure such as The Louvre today? It would take a hundred years and a gazillion dollars!!
All your photos have a special character to them. Excellent eye. Thank you for sharing!
so stunning, i don't think i could ever tire of looking at it.
