Pretty in Plum

I'm busy traveling back to New York today but I'm not leaving you without something to savor. I love the pretty plum color in all of these images regardless of whether it's a sofa, wall color, or just a little bouquet of flowers. Hope you enjoy them too!

Love plum, a moody shade that reminds me of lilac in a gloomy frame of mind.

I'm normally not a big fan of plum, but I do have to agree with you in that it looks great when done well. Particularly love the image from Steven Gambrel in the all-plum room...

Have safe travels :)

I can't seem to get enough of any type of purple. Maybe that should have been Pantone's color of 2010 instead of turquoise.

I love that sofa in the second piccy - pure comfort and it looks so inviting. Plum is such a rich, beautiful colour and seems to be under used. Thanks for reminding me what a gorgeous colour this is! KG

violet has been my favorite color since I was a little girl. The touches of plum are dramatic and rich and very grown up. Love it.

* Heather, your choice for the first pic is so genuinely "pretty", & so "quietly glam", that it's elegantly seductive~~~ wow, just tooooo wonderful for words! Simply stunnnnning! THANK YOU!

Not only are the rooms notable for their use of plum highlights, but it seems that the plum coloring has inspired rooms with the perfect mix of traditional antique furnishing and modern elements. Love the photos. I have always thought that aubergine was the perfect neutral and plum definitely fits in there. Thanks for making my head work. Have a safe trip.

I always have something lavender and plum in my home!
As a teenager everything I owned, especially my bedroom, were lavender. I am happy the color is back!
Safe trip back!
By the way, I was browsing through the 2007 Christmas issue of Southern Accents, and noticed the library/dining arrangements. I lost much of my magazine collection in a May flood, but was able to recover just as many, thank goodness.

I am haunted by William Yeoward's plum hurricanes I saw in a store in Chicago 9 months ago. The color brought out something in my I didn't know would touch me so much. I thought I was a seagreen/terra cotta/cream kind of girl but I must know troll the worldwide web to find them for my own!

I love the vases in the first picture, they remind me of tulips or trumpets. They add a sense of celebration to the decor.
