H in HOLLYWOOD

I am in need of some sunshine and warm weather so I've booked a trip to Los Angeles. I can't wait to luxuriate by the pool, shop and hang out with my West Coast friend Maison21. (Just wish I was going to look as good as this girl but oh well.) I will be in La La Land from March 18th to 22nd so if anyone has any suggestions for things to do or places to go, please feel free to share! Now I'm off to plan my outfits!

If your in SilverLake stop at LA Mill, its a fabulous coffee shop!! The coffee is unique and the food is delicious. The decor is stunning too! Custom European wall paper and comfy chairs in teals and red. I give the people watching an A+ and there are some cute shops nearby that you can only find in SL. Enjoy!

Hey Heather. I'm sure you'll have a great time with Maison 21, he's such a darling. I only hope that the weather will improve, it's been raining lately (!).

anyways, my absolute favorite place to be is the Getty Center. they have something for every taste: from contemporary art installation to one of the best museum collections of art work, furniture and decorative objects.

for injection of Hollywood: FIDM hosts the display of costumes from some of the top films of 2009. Check here for more www.fidm.edu

Welcom to LA Heather. I live here all my life and I don't care what people say, it's a really cool place. It's been rainy and cold here though, so make sure you bring something warm to wear. If you are staying in the West Hollywood area, check out AOC restaurant, it's a fabulous tapas place. SLS hotel has this amazing restaurant by Jose Andre--great for people watching.
Hope you'll have tons of fun!

KICK ASS COCKTAILS:

TAR PIT on LaBrea. Swank, 30's glam deco vibe. Dark booths. You'll love.

JAR - but Maison knows. Also great brunch. Lobster Benedict is bliss.

VICEROY on Olympic. Duh. But the maragrita cocktail is special.

LE PETITE RETREAT HOTEL - best, unknown rooftop pool/ garden/ 360 views. A hidden gem in W. Hollywood.

MOZZA - best pizza ever. Sneak in late lunch/ early din & sit at the bar to avoid crowd insanity and need for reservation.

WINDOW SHOP @ LITTLE PARIS on LaBrea -huge, fab selection of antigues/ vintage. Monopoly money expensive, tho. Beautiful to browse.

ART - BERGAMONT STATION in Santa Monica. Diverse collection of galleries.

HUNTINGTON GARDENS in PASADENA a must on a sunny day.

Enjoy. Welcome to La.

You're gonna have such an amazing time- and everyone has mentioned such great spots. I say go to Malibu Seafood, one of my favorite spots. Its on the water, its byob, its cheap and has the best fish and chips. It's a must try. If your interested check out my blog on design and life :) www.studiostella.tumblr.com

I can confer with the other posts as to where to eat.
-Joan's on 3rd=Love, and mighty good red velvet cupcakes.
-Pizzeria/Osteria Mozza (Mario Batali and Nancy Silverton-La Brea Bakery and Campanile; you can't go wrong)

I'd add Clementine as a must for lunch. The homemade ginger limeade makes me thirsty thinking about it. It's nestled in a neighborhood off Santa Monica Blvd next to Century City. It's close to the Maison Martin Margiela store who's four walls are covered in silver paillette sequins.

I'd skip Sprinkles (I wouldn't have said this in 2005 when she was using French butter and Valrhona chocolate, but vast expansion has led to changing to oil etc.) in favor of Sweet Lady Jane for a more LA experience.

The Gagosian Gallery in Beverly Hills will be showing Andreas Gursky photography while you are there, and they are going through a Richard Meier renovation to boot!

If you find yourself on South La Brea, stop by Liz Antique Hardware. This is where you can get thousands of unusual household findings. Marc Jacobs shopped here to finish out his namesake store.

With so many options and so little time, I know you'll be busy. Just sit back and relax. Have an Arnold Palmer for me.

Have lunch at Aroma Cafe in Studio City, go down and watch the skateboarders on sunday mornings at Venice Beach (they're amazing and as young as 3 plus fabu breakfast places!), and a studio tour can be really fun too.

Time ago we rented a house in Beverly Hills for a year and I was absolutely happy there, waking up to the sun every morning, going for groceries at midnight and bumping into D.Sutherland, W.Beatty and the like pushing their carts, visiting gorgeous stores and interesting museums. Getty is a must and since Gursky will be in town it is another must. Just strolling in Malibu, Venice, Rodeo Drive, Melrose, the Design Centre will be fantastic. Have a wonderful trip and report back your personal findings.

blackman cruz have moved to Highland ave in Hollywood. Wonderful store. JFChen Loft is nearby for astonishing number of amazing furniture. Main source for all the major LA decorators.

I live in Southern California, Orange County to be exact. I think you should visit the Trina Turk boutique on 3rd Street by the Grove.

As a fellow NYer I love an annual trip to LA, three things to do:

1. Enjoy driving!
2. Hit up Osteria Mozza for dinner
3. Bar Marmont for drinks and nibbles

One thing to avoid:
Getting your nails done- they have no bloody clue what they are doing when it comes to manis and pedis, get one before you head out. Have fun!

Have a wonderful time!
