The Charming Mr. Blahnik

I love when I'm looking for one thing and I find something even better in the process. In this case, it was photographs of Manolo Blahnik at his beautiful Georgian house in Bath, England by Ivan Terestchecnko.   He shares this house with his collection of books and about 10,000 pairs of shoes that bear his name.  He most enjoys spending time in his garden and one has to wonder if that is what inspires his more fanciful designs.  I especially love the classic English colors of the rooms and the slightly cluttered look that is quintessentially English.  Most of the woman who buy his shoes tell him that they make them happy but I have a feeling that Mr. Blahnik would say that his home is what makes him happy.

Great stuff Heather!
This is gorgeous, I love all the neoclassical elements.
And of course, the sculptural shoes on display ; )

The picture of him with a shoeshelf instead of a bookshelf behind his writing desk is just perfect. How appropriate.

That sofa just looks so cushy, and cosy.

i have an a spread from vogue 1984 of this house, photographed by eric boman and written by miles chapman of tatler. although most of the pieces are the same, the color palette then was all neutral -it's fun to see his use of color now. thanks for posting this!

I met him years ago and he was lively and full of wit and plenty of ideas - his home is exactly what I would envision. Looks like a chic think tank! Lovely little eccentricities just like his shoes.

Love everything about his house - the colors, the style and the not-too-neatness. And of course all the books!

Love it all. And I swear, I find his shoes comfortable. (I gladly suffer for my Loubs, though.)

Is Mr. Blahnik the man with largest shoe collection in the world? What a wonderful place to get inspired by.

Cheers,

Claudia
