Joan Mitchell: The Last Decade

Joan Mitchell is one of my favorite artists.  I was disappointed to find that there was only one of her paintings in the Abstract Expressionism exhibit at The Museum of Modern Art on view now.  I wish I lived in Beverly Hills.  If I did, I could view fourteen of her gorgeous works at the Gagosian GalleryThe Last Decade includes paintings from the last ten years of her life when she lived in France.  I highly recommend making time for this wonderful exhibition which runs from November 13 through December 23, 2010.  You can make it a present to yourself.  I'll guess I'll have to make due with the catalog.  Sigh.

You and I have very similar taste in art. Love Twombly and also Joan Mitchell. And there anywhere where Gagosian isn't?

Treat yourself to the impressions of landscapes by portrait artist Ginny Stanford of Sonoma County, California. Her portrait of Hillary Clinton in the National Portrait Gallery holds little clue to her extraordinary range of beauty.

Joan Mitchell is one of my favorite artists, too! John Berggruen Gallery in San Francisco exhibited some of her earliest paintings this spring. It was so fabulous, that I couldn't resist blogging about it, either!

Like yourself and so many of your reader's. I love Joan Mitchell's work. I will happily stop by to view her magical talent. Next week when I am in the city. Kudos, for you to stop sugar. I, too am going to take her very solid and sound advice...Not to lose weight (I am 106lbs.), but to be the healthiest I may be. ~m P.S. I love GOOP.

I also love Joan Mitchell's works so much and as I live in the same region in France where she lived her last years it is kind of special when we talk about her here. Unfortunately we don't get the chance to see much of her work too I only saw one too at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Maybe one day...
