Pretty Porcelain

"I find it harder and harder everyday to live up to my blue china."
                                           - Oscar Wilde

Oscar Wilde might have had a hard time living up to his blue china but the interiors in these photos are completely uplifted by the addition of blue and white china.  I always love blue and white porcelain but it looks even more cheerful in the spring.  After looking at the rainy weather report for the week, I think we could all use a little cheering up today.  If you want to start your own collection, my favorite sources are the flea market, Middle Kingdom and Pearl River Mart.  Enjoy!

Found your blog a couple months ago and am loving it! I have a question regarding the image in this post labeled Grant Gibson...Do you have any info on that light fixture hanging over the table? It's amazing.

Great job finding such wonderful photos showcasing different ways to display blue and white porcelain! I'm sharing this with my mom who just moved into a new house and is trying to figure out how to display her collection.

A lovely post - have long been mad for B&W porcelain.

BTW - am pretty sure the "unknown" post with the rattan secretary is Barclay Butera - from his actual house!

Love blue and white porcelain, china, and collectibles..its amongst one of my most favorite design elements. Adds such instant beauty, elegance and grace to any room. Beautiful examples shown here....and unlike other elements of design the blue and white truly in my eyes works in any color scheme! Beautiful!

Wonderful images. I used to have a pair of lamps made out of large antique 18th Centuyr Delft jars...they were beautiful. I miss them!

Blue and white porcelain is a classic. I use it in my entry and living room and can not imagine either space without it. I think Carolyne Roehm is a master at using blue and white!! KS

I love antique blue and white anything; and I mix Chinese, Japanese and English/European blue and white. But I think that I'm about to become a little less snooty and acquire some new blue and white. Currently it is really, really hard to tell the old blue and white chinese porcelain from the old. These are fantastic photos. thanks. Mary

Fabulous post! So interesting to see blue and white porcelain used to accessorize in so many different ways.
I particularly admire the cobalt lacquered dining room (Veranda). Do you happen to know the designer?
Thanks again!

Cannot think of anything I love more than blue & white. My collection certainly doesn't look as splendid as these pics, but it has been collected over years with much love. This is a great post, Heather. xx's
