Sticky Wicket

The croquet set that I saw at The Upper Rust makes me wish a had a flat lawn, or any lawn for that matter.  It would be fun would it be to host a croquet party on a lovely summer day.  Argyle optional of course.

Heather, beautiful pictures and informative too, I love how every time I check out your blog, there's always something interesting, not only beautiful, and I always leave learning something new! I'd love to ask you a question, I look up to you in decorating and love your taste. I recently purchused an upholstered chocolate brown wing bed, it's beautiful and I'm very happy with it, but have no clue how I should match furniture that I'm going to be getting soon. Meaning the dressers and nightstands. What are the rules to matching an upholstered dark piece and a type/color of wood? I'm so confused. Usually I see same color on dressers, but since this is an upholstered piece, it doesn't apply....Any ideas? Thank you, hope all is well in the new apartment, stunning colors in the kitchen by the way!!

I've played a few times and was taught a bit by pros at a tournament a few years back. Loved it! I posted photos of the 30's earlier today... wouldn't have been surprised to have run across a croquet snap in the pics I posted. Check it out!

Must have a croquet match after seeing this delightful post. You missed one of the most traditional ongoing rivalries in the sport: the Naval Academy Mids against St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland. The Johnnies have won 23 of 28 matches the last of which you can view here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuv2Jf118V4 Jo @ Let's Face the Music

When I lived in Maryland I was reacquainted with competitive croquet. Yes, people still play it competitively and are very serious about it. Lawns are meticulously cared for--they must be green, lush and very flat.

We always played on a slight hillside, so the game was a little more challenging. Many a summer days in the South playing the game. Love it.

What fun and great photos. I don't know why, but a couple of weeks ago I bought a c. 1930 crocket set--complete (with instruction booklet) except not original box. Now you are making it chic. thanks. Mary

What another lovely, whimsical post. I am truly inspired how you find a theme and post the most beautiful photos all connected to the theme but from different places!
