Escape Plan

Instead of preparing to hole up at home in New York to ride out hurricane Irene, I wish I had high tailed it out of town.  I also wish America had the entire month of August off like all of France.  If we did, my dream would be to enjoy the pastoral pleasures of a place like Château de Fontenay. It was decorated by Mlinaric, Henry & Zervudachi who did such a great job, that I don't think I would change a thing.  It's perfect.  And even more so because they don't get hurricanes in France. Hope everyone has a safe weekend!

I know, wouldnt that be great, just go away for the entire month...

I posted an image from the Florida coast this evening, as I went to the beach to see what all the fuss was about...
Hope you will be safe, stock up on water and make sure you have flaslights, bugspray and a radio!

Although I am not wild about that big leaf wallpaper, the other rooms and outdoor spaces look truly wonderful.

I think state school systems should incorporate a class titled "the art of enjoyment"... a course in which us overachieving Americans learn how to relax ad enjoy each moment of life like our fellow europeans ;P ... A MONTH OFF??????? Lets live like the French, enjoy wine a baguettes in the park... and all flee to our country estates for a month... o0o0 if only :)

Gorgeous photos...please stay safe. I was supposed to come into the city yesterday for the US Open starting Monday but now hoping to come in Monday or Tuesday morning for the week.

Keep safe Heather. This would be wonderful place to go to. Hope Irene is not too nasty.

How beautiful. I particularly love that soft pastel mint green in the first few images.

Hi Heather.......I hope that you have a bunch of old movies, candles (just in case), some rain boots, great snacking food, some awesome books and some wine and champagne. (Some Laduree macaroons would also be nice) Stay safe. Mary

Beautiful pictures. Keep safe and dry. My son left yesterday for New York for a skate competition. A little nervous about all the weather warnings.

Love that bedroom with the curly brown headboard. It looks like the perfect place for a "Peter Pan" type of adventure. I have admired historical homes like these since I was a kid. Definitely would be a fun choice for evacuation!

Now that's the spirit! Let Irene send us off to regal estates for a weekend of macarons and tea!
