One of the most fun things I was able to do in Los Angeles was meet interior designer Mark D. Sikes. Not only did he let me visit his gorgeous home in the Hollywood Hills but photograph it as well. You might recognize it from the December/January 2012 issue of House Beautiful. And before I go any farther, a full resource guide can be found online here since I know I will get questions about where to find things. It's always fun to see a space you have seen in a magazine in person. They only have room for so many photos so you miss so much. What struck me is how "East Coast" the house looks and not at all what you expect to see in Hollywood or California for that matter. You can see the influences also of Oscar de la Renta's house in Punta Cana and even Whitney Fairchild's Hamptons home that was featured in House & Garden magazine years ago. Mark used to work in visual merchandising but has transitioned now to interior design and it's clear that he has a great future ahead of him. I took so many photos that they wouldn't fit in just one post so this is a look at just the first floor. Pretty amazing huh?

Wow! Thanks so much for the great tour! That is one of my favorite houses. So elegant, casual, and livable. You can just tell they have a lot of fun there.
Heather I could truly move in and not change a thing. So chic yet completely comfortable! That tile, the Gracie wallpaper, on and on!

Such a comfortable home! Love all the books. It looks so personal and inviting. I'd love to plunk myself down with a book and a cup of tea on that sofa in the kitchen! He has such a great eye and the ability to put together such amazing spaces. Thx for sharing.
Love this!
Loving that tile!

love it!!!
The bathroom tile is so beautiful.
Such a beautiful, comfortable home, deep sigh!
So will you show the upstairs shots in another post, I truly hope so?
Gorgeous house and also gorgeous images, Heather! You are a pro...I love the vignettes and the composition.
Does anybody know what kind of tree/plant is in their living room?
The subtle blue and white china throughout the dining and sitting rooms is delightful. The black lacquer Chinese furniture mixes well with the whites of the fabric. And the garden is a joy.
Now, how could you possibly not love or ever leave that spot. Beautifully chic.

Everything about the home is absolutely lovely...He obviously is house proud:) Thank you for taking the great pictures and thank him for allowing you to share them.
Dear Heather, what an unbelievable treat! Thanks so much for showing even more of this spectacular house. I think I've gone back to it every week since it's been published. Can't wait to see more of the second floor. The California Mediterranean houses of the 1920s are my all-time favorites. M.
Great Shots. I think I like the second floor more! Love it
Heather I loved this house when I saw it in HB last year and now you have posted the most AMAZING photos of it. You are so lucky to have been able to visit this divine home in person! One word - STUNNG! Oh and I agree with Karena, I wouldn't change a thing either! SO beautiful.
Hope you are well. I am heading to NY next week for the fair. So excited.

fantastic - such a beautiful home. question: who did the geometric print hanging over (i assume) the pantry door? thanks!
Absolutely stunning interior/exterior and great pictures! I love the subtle colors.
I loved the in depth tour!
How generous of them to allow you such intimate access!
I covet every single photo and will devour them for days...thank you for this amazing post!

What a great place. I love it that you are so generous with the photos!
Thanks.
That's amazing. I like the hexagonal mirror shape. Really really chic
I especially loved the shots of the garden. Wish that I knew what cushions Mark uses on all those gorgeous iron patio chairs. I am sad all winter looking out at my furniture dressed only in snow.
