Traveling in Style

I'm off to visit my family in Pennsylvania for a little R&R.  Of course, that got me thinking about the state of fashion, or lack there of, at the airport.  It's rare to see someone who looks nice which is sad. People traveled for hundreds if not thousands of years without wearing sweatpants and I wish we could go back to those days.  It is possible to look nice and be comfortable as these people illustrate.  Bon voyage!

Wonderful post.
I love how some people always look chic while travelling.
I some times miss that at these days.
Enjoy the trip.

I love this post, thank you.
When I have to see people in their yoga pants on the airplane I want to cry. I always dress up, even for overnight flights to Europe.
Oh and the sweatpants on men worn low to reveal their horrible boxer shorts, don't get me started!
Safe travels to you.

I love this post..when I am about to fly, I think I get super side tracked worrying about whether my gold bangles are going to set all the alarms off and I will get an x-rated pat down than whether I look fashionable...I might need to readjust my thinking for next trip!

Love this post Heather. I was in the airport the other day and it seemed like everyone was wearing shorts and a t-shirt and flip flops! They looked like they just came from the pool. It is definitely possible to look good and be comfortable and deal with all the airport nonsense at the same time.

Heather,

I just came back from a little mini vaca and must say I thought I was over dressed at the airport coming and going. I left in a knit stripped dress that hugged my curves with my sweater tied around my neck and my comfy heels and returned with my skinny jeans, white tank, cute fadora and famous Audry white shirt with the stiff collar and wore my dkny shades as well! Felt awesome, but looked totally out of place amongst the sweats and flip flops!

Hope you have fun with your family!

Yes, it is definitely possible to look chic and be comfortable while traveling...Kourney K. looks cute and comfy as does Charlize. But some of these photos make me wonder if the people were all that comfortable. I would go crazy if I wore tight jeans on a plane for 8 hours (even jeans that feel comfortable at first feel like a tourniquet when you are in that middle seat in economy for 6 hours), and if I had to trudge through an airport in high heels I would cry. If I could get dropped off at and spread out in one of those private jet lounge chairs and get up and move around as much as I wanted without the "fasten seatbelts" sign on for 5 out of 6 hours, I think I could handle some of these outfits.

I wish I looked half as chic as any of these women when I traveled! Have a great weekend!

OK, I'll say it. People are pigs...really, then they use the " comfort" excuse. That is no argeument.I always did, always do dress for travel...even if it's a road trip. Enjoy your holiday...dress to the nines!

dug the images. Thank you HC.

Yes, always a balance. I do like to be comfortable when flying. If you dress up you have a different experience.

It is possible to look great and still be comfortable!! What is equally awful (and a related theme) are individuals who overflow into their adjoining seats...God help me. Super post. Mary

Heather, I'm one of your email subscribers so I don't often click over and comment. I love your long photo posts- they are just so fun to "eat up" with my eyes. Loved this one- my family traveled to Hawaii from California quite a bit in the mid 60's and my mother always had us turned out to the nines. Love to see people make an effort!

I ran into Bill Murray (looking very UNchic) at the Boston airport when our flight home to DC was delayed this past weekend. Someone needs to tell that man that yellow plaid is not meant for white guys but he was totally lovely and friendly.

wow, such great looks! I usually wear leggings, flats and a drapy top but I might have to start throwing a blazer on as well!
